Howard Earns 2023 Seal of Prevention for Online Prevention Education Programs

2023 Campus Prevention Network Seal of Prevention: Safety, Well-Being, Inclusion. 2023 Honoree. Vector Solutions.

For the second year in a row, Howard University has been named a recipient of the Campus Prevention Network (CPN) Seal of Prevention. The CPN Seal represents the highest standard for online prevention education, with a rigorous set of criteria to ensure we are making a measurable impact across critical areas including sexual assault and alcohol and drug misuse. Only ~10% of colleges and universities in the country achieved this recognition.

A proactive, comprehensive approach to supporting the overall wellbeing of students includes a commitment to prevention education. As this recognition reflects, we have made it a priority for our students to participate in online trainings aimed at creating a safe and welcoming campus community. Some of these programs may have been part of your initial arrival on campus, and others will be part of the ongoing initiatives we integrate throughout your time at the Mecca. We believe this continued investment in prevention is central to upholding our mission, honoring your trust, and preparing you for success on campus and beyond.

In addition to our student prevention programs, online training is provided to faculty and staff in preventing harassment and discrimination, to help ensure that all faculty and staff understand their responsibilities, as well as their rights and resources, related to fostering a safe, welcoming, and inclusive learning and working environment.
